RacketHall Country House Hotel is an ideal centre for golf with several fine, value-for-money golf courses within a few short minutes drive of the hotel. With our central location one will be spoilt for choice of golf courses with all within a short drive from the hotel, Roscrea Golf Club, Rathdowney Golf Club, Mountrath Golf Club, Thurles Golf Club, Birr Golf Club.
Most of these clubs share a common heritage of starting out life as 9 hole layouts before expanding over time to attractive and enjoyable 18 hole parkland courses.
Roscrea Golf Club is only a wedge shot from the hotel’s doorstep. It is a beautiful tree-lined course with a smart, modern clubhouse.
Nenagh Golf Club’s original 9 holes were laid out by no lesser a figure than Alister McKensie, the designer of Augusta National. It’s now a cracking good 18 hole layout over lovely rolling countryside.
It wasn’t until 1997 that Rathdowney Golf Club expanded to its current 18 hole layout. The new nine holes blend seamlessly with the original design - a very pleasant and enjoyable course to play.
Mountrath Golf Club's new modern clubhouse exudes a cosiness and ambiance that is a perfect compliment to its excellent golf course.
Birr is the granddaddy of the local courses, with its origins dating back to 1893. It is a very interesting track with several risk or reward holes, requiring long carries off the tee.
Thurles Golf Club is a 100 year old beauty with a rambling clubhouse - the course is one of the best in the region.
